THE House of Assembly will on Thursday be presented with a $1.4 billion Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 2016/2017.
According to a release from the Parliament office the debate on the estimates for the new financial year will also begin on Thursday.
At that meeting it will be resolved that the House of Assembly adopt the Report of the Standing Finance Committee on the Estimates of Expenditure for the financial year 2016/2017 in the sum of $1,426,295,500 as a charge against the Consolidated Fund and other funds of the State of Saint Lucia.
Today Governor General, Dame PearletteLouisy will deliver the Throne Speech. This will mark the opening of the sixth session of the Tenth Parliament.
Members of the House of Assembly will meet at 10:00 a.m., to be followed by Members of the Senate 30 minutes later, after which both Houses will meet in joint session to receive a message from the Governor General.
The Standing Finance Committee will meet in closed session at about 2:00 p.m. to review the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure 2016/2017.
