The bottom line in life is the choices we make!

There are some situations in life when you have no choice.

For example, if you are born in a particular country that dictates that at a certain age you must join the army and you cannot decide for yourself if you should get-ready to fight in a war, or not, such dictatorships or systems pre-determine your destiny. There are also situations when you are under parental control and until you reach a particular age, you have to live by the dictates of your parents.

But, barring such situations, in our part of the world there are certain freedoms that most persons get or have at a reasonably-young age, so it is not uncommon or unusual to find young adults gravitating to a lifestyle by choice, with no restrictions.

You may be able to decide who you would like to fall in love with, or how you choose to spend your earnings, in what type of environment you choose to live, or if you should work, or hustle, steal for your means of survival – basically, you are free to make a choice.

But all choices in life have consequences and if you are not careful you can sometimes bite more than you could chew, or miscalculate a move. In other words, there is good and bad judgment.

In today’s world, not making the right choices or planning your future or adult life carefully-enough, can leave you in great difficulties.

Some persons learn early in life that to gain an education or particular skills-sets, you must study or apply the necessary time to reach that goal or objective. Some choose to spend their money on vanity, while some recognise early-enough if you don’t save or make certain sacrifices, the future you seek or dream of cannot be realised without a particular discipline or commitment.

Today, many young and not-so-young persons are making certain decisions that frequently land them in hot water, because the easy way out can have many pitfalls they did not put in the equation. Some work a lifetime living hand-to-mouth, some get opportunities but squander them, some live to impress others, while some are conned and exploited because of false associations and trickery — especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

There is no manual for growing-up, no constant source of mentors or persons to guide you or make you understand that the route you choose can or will lead you down a regrettable slope.

I see many wasting, gambling their earnings, drinking their lives away, hooked on all kinds of substances, but it is not my role or duty to enlighten or try to alert them.

I say these things because age brings wisdom and in most cases who feels it knows it because experience is one’s greatest tutor.

Life has various stages, but the sooner you learn the better: that there comes a time when you must stand on your own because there is nobody there to support you or give you a helping hand — especially when you need it most or you are down-and-out.

Money does not always bring happiness, but it prevents you from being dependent on others for help. However, times are changing, the situation especially at a certain age is getting tough, so I suggest that more of our young people start thinking about tomorrow before dealing with today’s joys and thrills.

There is a season for everything under the sun, so we must all think carefully about our every move and actions, because it’s always about the choices we make — and bad choices or poor decisions can open wounds that are of our own creation.

Today there is a lot of information at our finger tips and knowledge is easily obtained, so don’t ignore or pay no attention to what is going on, especially in the wider world, because our present and future are threatened for various reasons — especially politically, as there are dictatorships and restrictions,  poisoning of our foods and destruction of our planet.

Let’s always be aware and prepared and don’t ignore what is going on around us because not being in the know is gross stupidity. Let’s use our brains and make necessary changes and decisions that are protective to our being, because ignoring the facts or today’s realities can be detrimental to our present-day efforts and we can end-up holding the shitty end of the stick.

The bottom line is that life is always about the choices we make!
