In a historic milestone for Saint Lucia, the nation’s junior football players are gearing up to make their debut at the inaugural FIFA Under-15 Boys Festival, taking place in Azerbaijan from October 22 to 31.
This significant participation marks a new chapter for the young athletes as they engage in a festival designed to support their development through competitive play.
Saint Lucia has been drawn into Group N, alongside Aruba, Croatia, Greece, Palestine, and Yemen. The festival will feature small-sided games with teams comprising 8 players, organized in balanced tiers and groups to foster fair competition.
Miran Louis, the newly appointed Technical Director of the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc., expressed his enthusiasm for this opportunity. He highlighted how this event allows the young players to showcase their talents, connect with their global counterparts, and enrich their understanding of the sport.
Louis emphasized the importance of the small-sided format for player development, acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead in their competitive group. He is optimistic that this experience will provide invaluable exposure and allow the players to test their skills against teams from diverse backgrounds.
