The Board of Directors, Executive, Management and staff of the East Caribbean Financial Holding Company Limited (ECFH) and its subsidiary, Bank of Saint Lucia Limited, express profound sadness at the passing of their esteemed Chairman, Mr. Evaristus Jn Marie.

Mr. Jn Marie’s passing marks the loss of an exceptional leader whose distinguished career was defined by integrity, visionary leadership, dedicated public service and an unwavering commitment to the economic and social development of Saint Lucia. At the time of his death, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of East Caribbean Financial Holding Company Limited and Bank of Saint Lucia Limited, providing strategic leadership and stewardship to one of the region’s most significant financial institutions.

He was appointed by the Government of Saint Lucia, the institution’s largest shareholder, in August 2021. Mr. Jn Marie assumed the chairmanship during a pivotal period for the company and the financial services sector. Throughout his tenure, he provided sound guidance and strategic oversight, helping to navigate a dynamic economic environment while championing the highest standards of corporate governance, accountability and institutional excellence.

As Chairman, Mr. Jn Marie was widely respected for his thoughtful leadership, balanced perspective and unwavering commitment to the long-term sustainability and growth of the Group and its contribution to the development to Saint Lucia. In addition to his role as Chairman of the Board, he also served as Chairman of the Board’s Credit Committee, where he played a critical role in overseeing credit governance, risk management and lending policies. He also served as a member of the Governance and Risk Committees.  His diligence, business acumen and prudent decision-making contributed significantly to the financial strength and stability of the institution, while supporting responsible growth and the advancement of customers, businesses and communities across Saint Lucia.

Reflecting on his passing, the Managing Director noted that Mr. Jn Marie was a leader of exceptional character whose wisdom, professionalism and commitment to service inspired all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

“Mr. Jn Marie provided steadfast leadership and invaluable guidance to our Board and Management team. His dedication to good governance, his deep understanding of business and finance and his genuine concern for the advancement of our institution and our country have left an indelible mark on ECFH and Bank of Saint Lucia Limited. We have lost not only an outstanding Chairman, but also a respected mentor, colleague and friend.”

As ECFH and Bank of Saint Lucia Limited reflect on his remarkable life and legacy, they join his family, friends, colleagues and the people of Saint Lucia in honoring a man whose contributions profoundly shaped the nation’s banking, business and public sectors.
