Last week, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) conducted a SOILCARE Mission to Saint Lucia, which included a site visit to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College—one of the project’s intervention sites.

The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance resilience against land degradation, climate change, and drought through climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land management practices. These initiatives include greenhouse vegetable production and various research efforts.

The delegation comprised several key figures, including: – Rawleston Moore – Senior Climate Change Specialist, Global Environment Facility

– Ebru Gurbuzer – International Development Officer, Global Issues and Development Sector, Government of Canada
– Neila Bobb-Prescott – GEF Task Manager and Climate Finance Specialist, Food and Agriculture Organization
– David Ainsworth – Senior External Relations Officer, Global Biodiversity Framework Fund
– Dr. Ronen Francis – Executive Director, Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management

This mission aims to support sustainable agricultural practices while addressing critical environmental challenges.
