The Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT) has expressed concern over a video circulating on social media showing an off-road monster truck associated with the Barbadian group “Offroad Junkies 246,” driving up the wall of the Powder Magazine. The 260-year-old structure, constructed between 1763 and 1765, is Saint Lucia’s oldest intact building and a vital part of the country’s heritage.
The SLNT said that the “thoughtless and blatantly disrespectful action” by Offroad Junkies 246 shows no regard for Saint Lucia’s unique built heritage.

“The Saint Lucia National Trust urges the authorities to intervene and apply the laws regarding endangering property and dangerous driving. Further, the Trust urges all persons who are undertaking these destructive activities to immediately desist,” the Trust said in a statement.
The Trust is also asking members of public to immediately report any damaging activity to Saint Lucia’s historic sites, monuments and structures to the SLNT and local law enforcement.
“Saint Lucia’s past is the foundation of our future. Let’s preserve our heritage together to ensure that our story never fades. Heritage belongs to all of us. Join us in protecting our landmarks, historic sites, structures and the monuments that define our homeland, Saint Lucia,” the SLNT said.
