Inter-School Volleyball Championships Heat Up

On February 20, the Inter-Secondary School Under-19 Volleyball tournaments continued at the Beausejour Indoor Facility, showcasing intense competition in both the male and female divisions.

Now entering its fourth day, the championships are organized by the Department of Youth Development and Sports.

Game One (Girls’ Division, Group A): Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) achieved their second consecutive victory by defeating a determined Beanfield Comprehensive Secondary (BCSS) School in straight sets, 25-19, 25-22. The 49-minute contest was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points in a closely contested match.

Game Two (Girls’ Division, Group B) : Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School kept their hopes alive with a crucial 2-1 victory over Vieux Fort Post-Secondary. The deciding set saw a dramatic showdown, with Soufriere edging it 15-11 after splitting the first two sets, 25-14 and 16-25. This match marked Vieux Fort Post-Secondary’s second encounter to go into a running score. Earlier, on February 16, they had fallen to Micoud Secondary School in a closely fought match, 22-25, 25-19, 18-16.

Game Three (Boys’ Division, Group B): Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS) launched their tournament campaign in style by overpowering Beanfield Secondary School, handing them their second straight defeat.

LHCSS showcased their strength, winning in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16. Dressed in their vibrant green and yellow, Leon Hess is proving to be a team to watch as the tournament intensifies.

In an unexpected twist, the scheduled ladies’ match between St. Joseph’s Convent and Leon Hess Comprehensive did not take place, as LHCSS did not show up. As per championship rules, St. Joseph’s Convent claimed a default victory with scores of 25-0, 25-0, 15-0.

Looking Ahead: Matches resumed on Tuesday, February 24.

Male Division, Group A: Sir Arthur Lewis Community College versus Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, followed by Choiseul Secondary School versus Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School.

Group B : Corinth Secondary School versus Beanfield Secondary School.
