On Saturday January 3, 2026, about 12:45 a.m. Police Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to a report of a stabbing.
Initial reports indicated that one male was wounded during a stabbing at Darling Road, Castries. He was transported to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU) via personal transportation and was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
The deceased has been identified as sixteen (16) year old Omar Joseph of Marisule, Gros Islet.
UPDATE
On Wednesday February 11, 2026, about 3:00 a.m. officers of the Criminal Investigations Department Tactical Response Unit apprehended a suspect in relation to the homicide of Omar Joseph. The suspect was taken into custody for the offence of Murder.
On Thursday February 12, 2026, twenty-one (21) year old Sherneil Theophile alias “Unts/Ants” of Corinth, Gros Islet was escorted to the First District Court and remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
Joint Police Operation Leads to Drug Seizure and Fugitive Arrest
A coordinated joint police operation conducted by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis and the arrest of two individuals, including one wanted internationally for organized narcotics offences.
The intelligence led operation was carried out by the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit North and South, with operational support from the Special Services Unit and the Tactical Response Unit South. Six search warrants were executed at targeted premises in Dennery and La Bourne, Monchy.
The purpose of the operation was to execute six search warrants at premises suspected of involvement in the storage and distribution of firearms, ammunition and controlled drugs. Officers also sought to locate and recover illegal firearms, ammunition, controlled substances and other evidential material linked to organized criminal activity, apprehend individuals implicated in serious narcotics related offences, and execute a Warrant of Arrest for Fugitive Extradition in relation to an individual wanted by the French Republic of Martinique for multiple organized narcotics and public health offences.
During the execution of one of the search warrants at a residence in Aux Leon, Dennery, officers conducted a thorough search of the premises and recovered approximately 3.5 kilograms of compressed cannabis. The substance was seized, properly packaged, labelled and sealed in accordance with established evidential procedures. The cannabis has an estimated street value of EC $35,000.00.
One individual was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs and possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. The individual was cautioned, informed of his rights and taken into police custody. Charges are expected to be preferred within seventy-two (72) hours. Investigations into this matter is ongoing.
Search warrants were also executed at premises in La Bourne, Monchy and at Dauphin Beach in connection with a fugitive investigation. During the searches, several electronic devices and documents were recovered and seized for further forensic examination.
One individual was apprehended pursuant to a Warrant of Arrest as a Fugitive for Extradition to the French Republic of Martinique. The warrant relates to multiple offences, including unauthorized importation and exportation of narcotics committed by an organized gang, criminal conspiracy to prepare for the commission of a crime, unauthorized transportation, possession, supply, transfer and acquisition of narcotics, criminal conspiracy to prepare an offence punishable by ten (10) years imprisonment, and possession and transportation of goods dangerous to public health.
The individual was informed of his rights and remains in custody pending extradition proceedings.
The operation achieved its primary objectives, resulting in the recovery of a substantial quantity of controlled drugs and the apprehension of two individuals, including one wanted internationally for organized narcotics offence.
RSLPF Marine Unit Interception of Vessel and Controlled Drugs recovered near Pigeon Point
On Monday February 9, 2026, police officers from the Police Marine Unit intercepted a vessel named “Surety”, Northwest of Pigeon Point with one occupant. The vessel was stopped and searched and three hundred and twenty (320) grams of Cannabis with a street value of three thousand, two hundred ($3,200.00) dollars was recovered.
At about 4: 20 p.m. Officers of the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit took command of the investigations, and the occupant of the vessel was arrested. He has been identified as Deland Cazaubon.
During the investigation process officers discovered that Deland Cazaubon was the subject of an outstanding Bench Warrant in relation to a matter in 2019, he was escorted to court for that matter.
On Wednesday February 11, 2026, Deland Cazaubon was charged for the offence of Possession of Controlled Drugs and Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply. He was escorted to the First District Court and remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
