
Several of Saint Lucia’s top athletes have been selected as nominees for the esteemed titles as the Department of Youth Development and Sports prepares for the 44th National Sports Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, at the Royalton Hotel.
A total of twenty-nine nominations were received for the prestigious awards: Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Junior Sportsman of the Year, and Junior Sportswoman of the Year for 2025.
Nominations came from ten National Sporting Associations, including Cricket, Basketball, Table Tennis, Netball, Aquatics, Shooting, Athletics, Cycling, Rugby, and Boxing.
Following the initial adjudication round, twenty athletes were shortlisted for consideration by the final judging panel.

Below are the five shortlisted athletes in each category:
Junior Sportswoman of the Year:
– Shatal Charles – Table Tennis
– Naija Ferdinand – Netball
– Jady Emmanuel – Athletics
– Selena Ross – Cricket
– Sapphire Parks – Aquatics
Junior Sportsman of the Year:
– Denzel Phillips – Athletics
– Leshon Francis – Table Tennis
– Antoine Destang – Aquatics
– Theo Edward – Cricket
– Denver Jr. Alwyn Alphonse – Cycling

Sportswoman of the Year:
– Melika Destang – Netball
– Meagan Nestor – Basketball
– Julien Alfred – Athletics
– Mikaili Charlemagne – Aquatics
– Zaida James – Cricket

Sportsman of the Year:
– Deandre Calderon – Table Tennis
– John Didier – Boxing
– Dilan Biscette – Shooting
– Maverick Pamphile – Athletics
– Ackeem Auguste – Cricket

The Department of Youth Development and Sports extends heartfelt congratulations to all nominees and shortlisted athletes for their remarkable achievements and contributions to national sports.
