SLOC Allocates Funds to Member Associations

FIVE member associations received a combined amount of EC$80,737.73 from the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Inc. on Thursday, July 4. 

During a brief presentation ceremony at the SLOC Headquarters in La Clery, the President of SLOC Inc., Alfred Emmanuel, assisted by Teddy Matthews, SLOC Secretary General, presented cheques to representatives of four out of the five National Federations (NFs), wishing them well in their upcoming events.

The breakdown of the disbursement is as follows: 

– The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. received an amount of EC$25,000.00 towards their Under 15 female team’s participation in a developmental tournament in Curacao in August. The team is under the guidance of Coach, Francis McDonald. The cheque was received on behalf of SLFA Inc. by Assistant General Secretary, Evastus Augustin.

– The Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) received a cheque for EC$10,000.00 to assist with their International 7 a-side Carnival tournament scheduled for August at the Gros Islet playing field. The cheque was received on behalf of SLRFU by President, Roger Butcher.

– The Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) received a cheque for EC$17,355.00 to host the OECS Invitational Boxing Championship from July 26-28 at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. The cheque was received on behalf of the SLBA by Public Relations Officer and Tournament Director, Shannon Labourne.

– The Saint Lucia Shooting Association received a cheque for EC$17,382.73 to purchase two Olympic-style pistols ahead of upcoming international events. The cheque was received on behalf of the Shooting Association by President, Curtis Altifois.

A fifth recipient, the Saint Lucia Aquatic Swimming Association (SLAF), was supposed to receive a disbursement of EC$11,000,00 to host the Goodwill Swimming Championship in August at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre (RHAC).

However, no representative showed up before the close of the presentations. Therefore, the disbursement will be made at a subsequent presentation ceremony.
