St lucia joins the rest of the world in observing April as Autism Awareness Month, and the Helen Association For Persons with Autism (HAPA) is urging everyone to wear blue on Thursday April 2nd which is World Autism Awareness Day 2026.
HAPA will host a public awareness ceremony at constitution park under its theme “light it up blue for persons with autism.”
The event will feature Addresses from government officials, executive members of HAPA as well as key partners responsible for the staging of the main activities for the month which include a sensory friendly health fair, a fun sports day and virtual panel discussions on key challenges in education and transportation for autistic persons.

Several business houses have agreed to decorate their establishments and encourage their staff to wear blue on Thursday and on Fridays during April in support of the drive towards awareness, acceptance and support for persons with autism.
Tomorrow’s activity begins at 10am and includes a display of the work of HAPA over the years, the sale of HAPA memoribilia, as well as entertainment including karaoke.
