The SLFA Inc. Northern Zone Boys Under-20 football tournament is set to commence on Sunday, March 15, at the Grande Riviere Playing Field in Gros Islet.

The theme assigned to this year’s tournament is “Building Tomorrow’s Talent Today.”

Five teams will be competing in the tournament. Three teams from the Castries basin in Central Castries, Marchand and La. Clery will be joined by northern giants Babonneau and Gros Islet.

The tournament will follow a single-round robin format, after which the top four teams will advance to the semifinals, culminating in the third-place playoff and the final.

Matches, consisting of double headers, will take place on Sundays and Wednesdays at the Grande Riviere Playing Field in Gros Islet, Marchand, and the SAB Playing Field, with kickoff times scheduled for 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

On opening day, March 15, the matches at Grande Riviere Playing Field will feature a resurgent La Clery vs. Babonneau at 4:00 PM, while Marchand will meet Gros Islet in the second encounter at 6:00 PM.

The tournament commences on the heals of St. Lucia’s failed bid at the CONCACAF Under 20 world cup qualifiers in Costa Rica. St. Lucia won only one of their four matches in that tournament.

A number of the players in the National Under 20 team setup will be on show in this SLFA Northern Zone event.
