In the lead-up to this year’s Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, a significant investment has been announced to support twelve community Jazz and Arts events across the island. The announcement was made during the Cheques Presentation Ceremony held this week.
At a media launch on Thursday at Chalét in Anse La Raye, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) reaffirmed the festival’s commitment to local talent, cultural preservation, and community development. This year’s community events showcase the creativity, culture, and spirit of Saint Lucians, offering various platforms for musical expression, visual arts, crafts, culinary experiences, and heritage.
Highlights of this year’s festival include innovative experiences such as “Soil to Soul Jazz,” blending music and wellness, and sunset jazz at Anse Ferre, which expands the festival’s geographic and cultural reach.
Meanwhile, established events continue their cultural legacy, now under a unified festival umbrella.
Thaddeus M. Antoine, Chairman of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, stated, “This initiative aligns with the Government’s vision of expanding our creative industries while ensuring our communities remain central to our development. By strengthening Community Jazz and Arts, we enhance the festival, create opportunities for our communities, elevate local talent, and build a more inclusive and sustainable cultural product.”
In partnership with Events Saint Lucia, the Community Tourism Agency, and the Cultural Development Foundation, the festival is set to strengthen production support, enhance marketing visibility, and incorporate sustainable practices to elevate the overall experience.
This investment, coordinated through the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, is projected to yield tangible economic benefits, including increased commercial activity and expanded opportunities for small businesses and artisans, alongside higher visitor spending in local communities.
The Authority will also implement best practices to assess the economic impact of these events, guiding future growth and ensuring accountability. As the festival evolves, it remains deeply rooted in community ownership while positioning Saint Lucia as a premier cultural destination on the global stage.
