Cuba: A Loyal and Supportive Friend in the Region

.

Cuba has long been a cherished ally in the Caribbean, stepping forward to assist its regional neighbors during times of need.

For over thirty years, the Cuban people have given generously, expecting nothing in return. It’s time for us to show our appreciation and support.

The Public Relations Officer of the Cuba Friendship Association has made a heartfelt plea, stating: “I urge all Saint Lucians to support the Cuban cause. Hundreds of Saint Lucians have benefited from the Cuban Eye Care program long before eye care services were established on our island. Today, many more are experiencing the benefits of eye care provided by Cuban personnel in collaboration with qualified local doctors.”

In 2010, 125 Saint Lucian nurses were among the first graduates from the Mario Raudilio Fleitas International Faculty in Jaguay Grand Mantazas, where they completed their studies as part of a larger group of 174 registered nurses.

Modeste added, “I encourage all Cuban-trained individuals in Saint Lucia to donate to the Saint Lucia Cuba Humanistic Solidarity Association. Donations can be made to BOSL A/C No. 101411912. For more information, please contact President Marlene at 285-2263 or PRO Marius Modeste at 384-0526.”

The local group will soon travel to Cuba to deliver much-needed supplies. “We want to extend our gratitude to the over 200 attendees of our recent fundraiser, where we raised $15,000. A special thank you goes to Vipil Balwani, owner of Tradevin at the Freezone in Vieux Fort, who generously donated $5,000 to support our cause.”

Let’s rally together and show our solidarity with our Cuban friends!
