On March 7, the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) proudly launched its Community Outreach Programme at the HRDC Building in Barre St. Joseph, marking Castries South as the first community to benefit from this significant initiative.
The programme aims to enhance community engagement through cultural activities, educational workshops, and local talent development. This event represents a vital step in CDF’s mission to promote inclusive cultural growth across diverse populations.
The launch featured inspiring remarks from Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister of Tourism, Commerce, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture & Heritage, and Parliamentary Representative for Castries South, along with CDF Executive Director Raymona Wynne.
Tyrone Harris, Senior Officer – Community Outreach Development, introduced the programme, discussing how it will strengthen collaboration between CDF and communities throughout the island.

Attendees enjoyed video testimonials from artists and cultural groups enthusiastic about the programme’s rollout, as well as a presentation detailing its vision and objectives.
A memorable aspect of the evening was the Di Mwen session, allowing audience members to express their hopes for the programme and share challenges currently facing the arts and culture sectors in their communities.
The evening also celebrated Saint Lucian creativity with a craft exhibition, spoken word poetry, and performances by the Helen Folk Dancers, Herb Black, and Black Pearl, showcasing a vibrant cross-section of the island’s creative talent.
The CDF’s slogan resonates throughout the initiative: “Together, we celebrate creativity, culture, and community. I Love My Culture.”
