Family, friends, media colleagues, and close acquaintances gathered at Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima in La Clery to honor the life and legacy of Lissa Vanessa Joseph, a cherished media personality and advocate for truth and rights.
Born on October 25, 1975, Lissa passed away on January 6, 2026, leaving a profound impact on the community, particularly within media circles where she played a vital role in disseminating information during crucial times.
In commendation of her work life and social relations, Lissa was passionately revered as , “Someone who touched people’s lives,” and an inspirational soul sister.
Geraldine St. Croix, delivering a heartfelt tribute, recounted Lissa’s unwavering dedication to her work at Daher Broadcasting Service (DBS TV) throughout her professional career, alongside other media outlets.
“Lissa was an eagle; she soared. Kind-hearted, loving, and deeply compassionate, her presence uplifted every life she encountered,” St. Croix shared.
“She gave love freely and lived with purpose. She was deeply loved by her family and cherished by her DBS family,” she added.
Acquaintance Vina Frederick delivered an inspiring eulogy, describing Lissa as “a woman whose voice echoed with clarity, courage, and compassion until her final breath.”
Joseph’s life was tragically cut short by cancer, a battle she faced with remarkable courage while maintaining her vibrant spirit.
Frederick further emphasized, “More than a trail-blazing journalist, she was a devoted daughter and sister; a fearless truth-seeker and a beloved friend whose warmth and wisdom shaped all who were fortunate enough to know her.”
Recognizing her work ethic, Frederick noted, “She was a master of her craft; meticulously researched, rigorously prepared, and unflinchingly composed.”
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet were in attendance, joined by various social groups and supporters.
Fr. Aaron Albert Smith, the outspoken Roman Catholic priest, delivered a heartfelt sermon, urging media practitioners to uphold integrity and to consistently distinguish between entertainment and purpose in their profession.
Following the service, attendees made their way to Choc Cemetery, where hymns were sung and cherished memories shared as Lissa was given a heartfelt farewell.
