On Monday, March 2, Saint Lucia will face Mexico in a crucial Women’s World Cup Qualifiers match at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG), starting at 3:00 p.m.
The CONCACAF Women’s World Cup qualifiers for 2026 are part of the pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. This tournament will determine the four teams from the CONCACAF region that qualify for the global event.
Teams such as Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Lucia are competing in the early stages of the competition. The format includes multiple rounds, with the top four finishers advancing to the World Cup.
In their previous match on December 1, Saint Lucia suffered a defeat against Puerto Rico, losing 7-0 at the Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel.
However, the technical unit and management staff are hopeful for a better outcome this time. Following extensive training, they anticipate an improved performance from the squad.
The 2026 CONCACAF W Championship will mark the 12th edition of this quadrennial international women’s football championship, featuring senior women’s national teams from CONCACAF member associations across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Eight teams will compete in the tournament set to take place in November and December of 2026.
This tournament serves as the qualifying round for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top four teams will qualify for the World Cup, while two additional teams will proceed to a playoff tournament.
