
Last weekend, Zadia James and Ackeem Auguste led the way at the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) Annual Awards Ceremony, held at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
The event celebrated the achievements of top cricket players in Saint Lucia.
The prestigious awards presented were:
– Junior Male Cricketer of the Year: Theo Edward
– Junior Female Cricketer of the Year: Selana Ross
– Senior Male Cricketer of the Year : Ackeem Auguste
– Senior Female Cricketer of the Year : Zadia James

The SLNCA’s annual awards ceremony was a spectacular event, featuring top past and present cricket personalities sharing in a heart-warming and congratulatory mode.
SLNCA President Wayne Auguste welcomed attendees and praised the players for their dedication and outstanding performance in the sport.
Among those present were Youth Development and Sports Minister Kenson Casimir and MP for Babonneau John Paul Estephane, and other ministry of sports personnel along with coaches, sponsors, and cricket enthusiasts.

Auguste emphasized that the event was not just about celebrating champions but also about recognizing the continued support for cricket’s growth in Saint Lucia. He outlined the SLNCA’s strategic direction for 2026–2029, focusing on increased participation, high-performance pathways, and sustainability for both male and female cricket.
Key strategies for player development include fun-based introductions for Under-10, skill foundations for Under-13, competitive play for Under-15, and high-performance transitions through to senior levels. He stressed the importance of self-led development in producing outstanding cricketers.

Auguste concluded, “Tonight, we celebrate our champions. But tomorrow, we continue the work of building more. Congratulations to all award recipients, and thank you for your continued support.”
Minister Casimir commended the local cricket organsiers for showcasing talent in the various league categories.
“We celebrate not only skills and success, but also temperament, sportsmanship and the unforgettable moments that define the season,” the Sports Minister stated.
“By every measure , the 2025 cricket season was a successful one,” he added. “We witnessed unprecedented growth and engagement across multiple levels of the sport , with several notable milestones achieved.”

The evening also highlighted various achievements, including:

– Champions : Gros Islet
– Runners-up : Central Castries
Individual Performances:
– Most Wickets: Lee John (Gros Islet) – 15 wickets
– Most Runs : Jard Goodman – 434 runs
– MVP of the Final : Noel Leo – 130 runs and five catches
– Emerging Player : Bjorn Fanis – two five-wicket hauls Coaching Excellence :
– Coach of the Year : John Eugene
Special Recognition:
– Honoring former executives for their contributions: John Estephane and Roselyn Preville.
