Exciting Action Continues in the “Bay Bay Cup”

This week, the “Bay Bay Cup” heated up at the Francis ‘Baba’ Lastic Grounds, showcasing some thrilling match-ups.

On Sunday (February, 8) the fixture features:

Police vs. Northern United 5:30 p.m.
GMC United vs. New Generation 7.00p.m.

The tournament action continued on Wednesday with a doubleheader at the Grande Rivière playing field in Gros Islet, featuring Gros Islet Veterans against Northern United, followed by Dominators FC taking on GMC United.

Results were as follows:

Match #7 –
Northern United vs Gros Islet Veterans 7-1
Match #8 – GMS United vs. Dominators 4-0

In round three of the competition held on Sunday, both Monchy FC and New Generation FC secured impressive victories.

Game 1: Monchy FC put on a commanding performance, overwhelming Police with a remarkable 8-0 victory. In contrast to their previous tough match against Gros Islet Veterans, Police struggled to keep pace.

Jahlil Evans shined for Monchy FC, scoring four goals in the 27th, 34th, 42nd, and 67th minutes. Troy Greenidge also made his mark, finding the net twice in the 40th and 58th minutes, bringing his total to four goals over two matches. Raphael Joseph capped off the scoring with goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes.

Game 2: New Generation FC continued their strong form, defeating Gros Islet Youth Lions 2-0. Richelme Lionel opened the scoring early in the 5th minute, followed by Yanic Noel in the 15th minute, who took his season total to four goals in two games, giving New Generation a solid halftime lead.

In the second half, Gros Islet Youth Lions increased their pressure, generating more shots on target than New Generation. However, goalkeeper Arlton “Fish” Lionel delivered an outstanding performance with five incredible saves to maintain the clean sheet.
Despite the Youth Lions’ efforts, Lionel’s heroics secured the 2-0 victory for New Generation.

Tournament Update: To date, the competition has seen a total of 26 goals scored, with two players, Yanic Noel and Shervon Byron (both from New Generation FC), achieving hat-tricks, while Jahlil Evans (Monchy FC) recorded a remarkable four-goal haul.
