This initiative, running over five days, serves as a crucial short-term employment opportunity aimed at enhancing community work. The Summer Stimulus Program will mobilize thousands of individuals across constituencies island-wide to undertake important beautification and community cleaning projects not covered by the Roadside Beautification Program.
These projects include clearing overgrown foliage to improve road safety for motorists, tackling mosquito breeding grounds, and elevating the overall appearance of communities.
In addition to its community benefits, STEP is a vital employment opportunity for thousands of vulnerable individuals, providing meaningful work that aligns with SSDF’s mission to reduce poverty and dependency.

He continued, “By putting tools in people’s hands, we are not only beautifying communities but also empowering families with short-term income that directly impacts their daily lives. This is people-centered development in action.”
Residents and motorists must exercise caution around work sites. Debris will be stored in clear garbage bags for efficient collection.
The SSDF, a satellite agency of the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, has emerged from the strategic merger of the Poverty Reduction Fund (PRF) and the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF). This consolidation streamlines efforts, eliminates duplication, and strengthens coordinated delivery of services to effectively reduce poverty and vulnerability among the island’s most marginalized communities.
