The second edition of the Speed Printing Survivors Track and Field Club Summer Camp is off to a flying start at Mindoo Philip Park, bringing together more than 50 eager young athletes for two weeks of intense training, learning, and fun.
Now into its fourth day, the camp is brimming with energy as children and teens immerse themselves in the core disciplines of track and field — Run, Jump, and Throw. From sprinters to jumpers, the athletes are developing their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches and trainers.
This year’s camp carries added significance, as the Club is home to none other than Julien Alfred, Saint Lucia’s double Olympic medalist from the Paris 2024 Games. Her achievements continue to inspire the next generation, many of whom dream of following in her footsteps. The Club also boasts several other elite athletes competing on the international stage, reinforcing its reputation as a breeding ground for sporting excellence.
But the focus isn’t solely on athletics. According to Club President Ligorius Marquis, the camp is also designed to foster personal growth. In the days ahead, campers will participate in interactive sessions led by professionals covering essential topics such as sports psychology, nutrition, goal-setting, and leadership.
“This camp is about more than just physical performance,” Marquis explained. “We want to empower these young athletes to grow into well-rounded individuals—confident, disciplined, and motivated.”
The camp will conclude with a spirited closing ceremony on Friday, August 15, where participants will be recognized for their dedication and progress. Families, coaches, and supporters are expected to turn out in full force to cheer on the future stars of Saint Lucia’s track and field scene.
With medals, certificates, and heartfelt moments on the horizon, the Speed Printing Survivors Summer Camp is shaping up to be a memorable experience — not only for the athletes but for the entire community.
