The St. Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) has officially launched the inaugural National Under-13 Grassroots Cricket Tournament. This initiative marks a significant step forward in identifying, nurturing, and inspiring the next generation of cricket talent across the island.
The tournament will unite young players from all districts and forms a key part of the SLNCA’s long-term development strategy, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, and creating opportunities for youth to advance in the sport.
SLNCA President Wayne Auguste emphasized the importance of this initiative: “The introduction of the National Under-13 Grassroots Cricket Tournament is a proud moment for cricket in Saint Lucia. This competition will provide our young players with a platform to showcase their talent, hone their skills in a structured environment, and foster a lifelong passion for the game.”
He stated, “This is a crucial investment in the future of our sport, ensuring that the next generation of cricketers is equipped to uphold Saint Lucia’s cricketing legacy.” The tournament will also serve as an important entry point for players into SLNCA’s high-performance pipeline, providing consistent coaching, competitive match experience, and access to mentorship from experienced players and coaches.
The SLNCA extends its gratitude to its valued partners — Laborie Co-operative Credit Union, Caribbean Alliance, Ackelles Holdings, and Cool Breeze — whose pivotal support has made this tournament a reality. Their commitment to youth sports reflects a unified vision of community empowerment and sustainable development.
The National Under-13 Grassroots Cricket Tournament will commence on September 7th and will take place at various venues across the island, ensuring that every district gets to experience the excitement of Saint Lucia’s youngest cricketing stars.
