
In yet another major multi agency operation, The Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has reported huge success, making valuable seizures during  the weekend.
On Sunday, 24th August 2025, between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., a coordinated multi agency operation was carried out in Castries, targeting high risk areas.
The exercise followed a two-phase strategy involving house searches and traffic enforcement. Some fifteen search warrants were executed, resulting in the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, cannabis resin, a large sum of cash, and several arrests linked to narcotics, firearms trafficking, and violent offences. A firearm with ammunition and electronic devices of evidential value were also recovered.
Simultaneously, traffic checks intercepted dozens of vehicles, leading to issuing of multiple tickets, vehicle impoundments, and one arrest. The RSLPF says, the operation which was directed from a Mobile Command Station, the highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence led inter agency collaboration in tackling organized crime and improving public safety.
Meanwhile, The RSLPF reported a suspected drowning on Sunday afternoon.
The Gros Islet branch of the RSLPF was called out at approximately 4pm in connection with the incident at the Gros Islet Beach.
Initial inquiries revealed that a young male individual was taken to the Gros Islet Policlinic via private transportation and then later conveyed to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU) via ambulance and was pronounced dead by medical officials.
The deceased has now been identified as four (4) year old Ryhim Serville of Marina Road, Gros Islet. The boy was apparently, at the time of his untimely demise, playing on the shore of the Gros Islet Beach with his family near by.
