Five outstanding Saint Lucian cricketers have secured their places on the Windwards U17 Squad for the West Indies Emerging Stars Tournament.

The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to these young talents who will represent the Windward Islands in the upcoming West Indies Rising Stars U17 Championship in Trinidad this August.

This prestigious tournament highlights the brightest youth talent in the West Indies, and the selection of multiple Saint Lucian cricketers for the Windwards squad underlines their exceptional dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Special recognition goes to their coaches and parents, whose tireless sacrifices have been instrumental in helping these young men achieve this significant milestone.

The recognized players from Saint Lucia are Theo Edward, Johnathan Daniel, Bjorn Fanis, Cody Fontenelle, and Amari Venner.

Leading the Windwards team will be Saint Lucian opening batter Theo Edward, who continues to enhance his abilities under the guidance of Coach John Eugene at the Saint Lucia Cricket High Performance Centre.

Wayne Auguste, President of the SLNCA, affirmed, “Their inclusion in the squad is a direct reflection of the hard work, discipline, and commitment they have shown throughout their development journey. This is a proud moment not just for their families and communities but also a significant encouragement for us to continue strengthening our grassroots and youth programs.”

An SLNCA spokesperson emphasized their encouragement: “We are particularly pleased with the Windwards Cricket Board’s renewed commitment to creating a true high-performance environment—one that focuses on structured succession planning and the effective implementation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) at all age levels.”

The statement further asserted, “The IDPs will provide our young cricketers with a personalized roadmap to enhance their skills, address specific growth areas, and track their progress toward achieving long-term performance goals.”

The SLNCA and Windwards Board stand firmly behind the entire team and anticipate exceptional performances in the tournament. We urge the nation to support these players as they compete with integrity and pride on the regional stage, championing both the Windward Islands and Saint Lucia.

Tournament Dates: August 12th – September 1st Location: Trinidad and Tobago.
