On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the St. Lucia Olympic Committee Inc. (SLOC) took a decisive step in supporting the nation’s young athletes. First Vice President George Charlemagne led the presentation of more than $70,000 in funding to five national sporting associations — an investment that signals confidence in Saint Lucia’s athletes and their potential.

The St. Lucia Football Association Inc. received $20,000 to support the Under-15 Boys team’s participation in the Concacaf Championship in Curaçao, running from July 2 to August 11 of this year. An equal sum went to the St. Lucia Amateur Body Building and Fitness Association, assisting with the hosting of the Central American and Caribbean Body Building Championships in Saint Lucia from September 25–28, 2025.

Other federations also benefited including the St. Lucia Rugby Football Union which received $10,000 for the Carnival Sevens Rugby Tournament held from August 1-2, 2025. The St. Lucia Tennis Association was awarded $9,617.83, covering hotel accommodation for Mannie Eluthere and Joshua Lubin, who will represent Saint Lucia at the Billie Jean King Cup in El Salvador later this August. Meanwhile, the St. Lucia Table Tennis Association secured $13,385.89 to send four promising athletes — Jelyn Henry, Jessica Eudovique, Stacy Rheman, and Julia D’Auvergne — to Argentina for the ITTF America’s Youth Table Tennis Championship from August 24–31.

For the associations, the support stretches beyond the financial. Ambris Bigby of the Table Tennis Association praised the SLOC’s role: “The continued support that we’re getting from the Olympic Association actually is paramount for tennis to continue and grow. We as administrators need to also be very supportive of the Olympic Association because sometimes things are misconstrued by some of us. Maybe we can get a lot more if we work together and not compete—in this case compete negatively out there.”

Charlemagne assured that the SLOC’s backing remains steadfast. “On behalf of the St. Lucia Olympic Committee Inc, we will continue to support all our national federations and to honor all legitimate claims for assistance,” he said.

For the athletes preparing to carry Saint Lucia’s colors abroad, the funding is more than just aid — it is a reminder that their nation stands behind them.
