Scandal Mas has officially stepped into the carnival scene.
The band is promising an unforgettable experience at this year’s carnival – ‘pure vibes’, top-notch service, and style.
“It’s about … giving the public what they’re looking for. It’s not only about the costumes but the service we’re [going to] provide,” team member, Clare Alfred, said.
The mission is to celebrate the spirit of Caribbean culture by creating an immersive experience that transcends tradition.

According to Giovanni Charles, Alfred’s counterpart, with this year’s theme, ‘Mystical Kingdoms’, “We’re trying to tap into the fantasy realm so people can really understand what it is.”
The band has a total of six sections including Pixie Dust, Narnia, and Aurora, and “Each section is tied to a mystical kingdom; Narnia (for instance) is from a storybook,” Charles observed.
Whilst ‘Scandal’ is hoping to push the boundaries of creativity (they’re embracing bold, provocative themes), there’s something for everyone, Rogers Fernando Glace, stated.
“You hear a lot of mature females saying… the costumes are skimpy [and] they don’t feel they can go back to their professional role the following day having been half naked the past two days. We listened to our revellers and we came up with costumes that provide coverage; there is a lot of attention to detail,” Glace, also a team member, said.
“The males can always opt for the backpack,” he added.
Apart from the abovementioned, revellers can expect a bit of glamour, Charles said.
Speaking on the inspiration for the band, he said “We stemmed from Scandal US”.
Charles said they don’t want revellers to feel like “they’re on the road for two days.”
“We’re looking to reach [the] modern-day audience,” he noted.
And they’re also hoping to inject a bit of nostalgia. ‘Scandal’ wants revellers to experience the “past, present… something that can be memorable,” he added.
The band made its presentation over the weekend at Royalton Resorts.
