THE Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) will officially launch its National Under-13 Cricket Programme tomorrow at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG).
The tournament is for aspiring male and female cricketers in that particular age group.
A spokesperson for the SLNCA stated that these future cricket stars will participate in essential developmental skill sessions, leading to several engaging kiddy cricket matches.
Following Sunday’s launch, the programme will expand into various districts over the coming months, incorporating matches using both hardball and softball.
SLNCA President Wayne Auguste commended the significant efforts put in by the team to ensure the successful implementation of the launch. He emphasized that this programme, led by Nerville Florence, marks the foundational stage of a comprehensive youth developmental framework, encompassing Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 levels for both male and female players.
According to Auguste, “Our goal is to cultivate tactical awareness in players from an early age. This preparation will equip them with the necessary skill sets to excel at the highest levels of cricket as they advance through the various pathways.” He further stated, “This launch also signifies the beginning of the SLNCA’s developmental activities for the year 2025. Our Executive Committee has strategically planned several programmes and activities that will be rolled out in the coming weeks. The SLNCA has secured uniforms for the teams, and we are actively seeking investments from private sector partners to further enhance this programme.”
