Social Justice Minister Joachim Henry says he’s doing well – despite rumours suggesting otherwise.
Several social media users claimed the minister had suffered a heart attack recently. Henry responded to the rumours, telling reporters, “I am extremely well.”
“Unlike what was being circulated on social media on Saturday, I think, while I was at church… this is not true. And of course, I’m asking for persons who would use social media to circulate this sort of information that could make other persons feel uncomfortable, like my family [to] desist from doing so,” he said.
The minister told reporters that he is hoping to maintain his health and “do what I’m supposed to do to stay fit and care for myself and my family.”
In early 2023, after suffering a heart attack, Henry said he was looking forward to performing his duties.
At Monday’s pre-Cabinet press briefing, the minister took the time to dispel another rumour claiming he would not be participating in the upcoming election.
“I’ve indicated my interest to continue and the process of the party is on in all constituencies. Of course, you [will] hear a lot more in due time but yes I will try again, subject to the approval of the process,” he stated.
Moreover, the minister told reporters, that the projects he has implemented speak for themselves.
“I have not stayed with the run-of-the-mill interventions and I’m excited about some of the things I have been able to achieve. I would love to have done a lot more – there’s always room to do more in any country but when you think of a project like the elder care programme – I contracted a doctor to visit all of the senior persons who are receiving care so they could do their bloodwork and fill in their prescription at their bedside, this is innovative,” the minister added.
