SVG Tops Points Table in ECCB Netball Tournament

After day four of the ongoing 2024 Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) International Netball Series, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) lead the Points Table with eight points from four matches. Saint Lucia and Grenada both follow with six points from four matches, while Antigua and Barbuda have four points from four matches.

SVG triumphed over Team Saint Lucia on Wednesday in a challenging match, winning 56-45. Saint Lucia has won three and lost one game so far in the competition.

The action has been intense and gruelling at the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility (BIPF) in Gros Islet, where the competition is being held. The tournament concludes today.

On Day Two, Team Saint Lucia convincingly defeated Antigua and Barbuda 55-38. Despite the Antiguans taking the first quarter 12-9, Saint Lucia, under the guidance of coach Connie Francis, stormed back to capture the remaining quarters 24-18, 40-28, and finally 55-38.

Scoring for Saint Lucia was goal-shoot (GS) Melessa Alfred with 28 goals from 35 attempts, goal attack (GA) Dasha Eugene with 21 goals from 28 attempts, and both Shem Maxwell (GA) and Samaj Margeurite (GS) with 3 goals from 3 attempts each. For Antigua and Barbuda, GS Reyana Regis scored 34 from 35 attempts.

Results of other matches played on Day Two were as follows:

• Grenada defeated the Cayman Islands 47-36
• Saint Vincent and the Grenadines hammered Anguilla 87-8
• The Commonwealth of Dominica handed Montserrat their second consecutive defeat, winning 58-16

Matches continued on Tuesday with the following results:

• Cayman Islands 62 vs. Commonwealth of Dominica 37
• Grenada 82 vs. Montserrat 8
• SVG 68 vs. Antigua and Barbuda 37
• Saint Lucia 88 vs. Anguilla 12

Thursday’s matchups featured:

• Antigua and Barbuda vs. Cayman Islands
• Montserrat vs. SVG
• Anguilla vs. Grenada
• Saint Lucia vs. the Commonwealth of Dominica
