Saint Lucia is gearing up to participate in the upcoming 2024 Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) Youth Congress.
On September 5, sixteen-year-old Iara Ernest, a student of the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School, and the island’s Junior Minister of Tourism for 2024, will deliver a presentation titled “Collaboration Across Cultures”.
The event is highly anticipated on the regional tourism calendar.
The event will take place from September 2 to 6 at the Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa in the Cayman Islands.
The CTO Youth Congress serves as a platform for youth involvement in tourism and is an integral part of SOTIC, resembling a CTO Board of Directors meeting and involving the participation of Junior Commissioners and Ministers of Tourism from across the region.
Leveraging on her outstanding performance at the National Tourism Public Speaking Competition in May, Iara is expected to deliver a compelling presentation to a wide audience, including CTO officials and key tourism policymakers.
Iara’s presentation will consist of a three-minute speech and a video presentation highlighting Saint Lucia’s commitment to sustainable tourism development by integrating diverse cultural perspectives of visitors and offering a differentiated product for the enjoyment of all.
