Saint Lucia to Host ECCB International Netball Series

.

Saint Lucia is set to host the fourth Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) International Netball Series, approved by World Netball (WN), from September 21-30.

The ECCB International Netball Series will kick off on September 22 with an Opening Ceremony at the Beausejour Indoor Facility. A total of 36 games will be played over eight days in a round-robin format.

The event will feature eight teams from the Caribbean, including Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Cayman Islands, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Team Saint Lucia.

The teams will compete for world netball rankings and the Gloria Ballantyne Trophy, with the highest-ranked OECS team receiving the award.

Grenada emerged as the winner of the inaugural Series in 2019 in St Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG), followed by SVG’s victory in 2022 in Dominica. The third series was hosted by Antigua & Barbuda in 2023 after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ECCB has been supporting netball in the OECS since 1991, initially focusing on OECS Under-23 teams before adding a Senior International competition from 2019.

The tournament will conclude with a closing ceremony immediately after the final match on September 29 at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

The organizers are encouraging sports enthusiasts, netball fans, media, family, and friends to attend this highly anticipated Senior Netball Tournament.
