Jannou Credit Union Awards Scholarships and Bursaries to Deserving Students

.

On Tuesday August 27th, 2024, Jannou Credit Union held its 41st Annual CPEA Scholarship and Bursary Ceremony, which highlighted the organization’s commitment to honouring one of its cooperative principles, ‘Care for Community’ by supporting education. This initiative is also Jannou’s contribution to fulfilling the UN sustainable development goal number four, which is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

This year, eight outstanding students were awarded scholarships, and ten students received bursaries to assist with educational expenses.

The programme started in 1980 and has assisted over one thousand students in their educational journey. To date a total of sixty-three students are currently benefiting from this initiative. Our unwavering belief that “Together we can move mountains” embodies our dedication to promoting opportunity and development in the community, by ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.

“This year, selecting our scholarship recipients was an exceptionally difficult task as the students demonstrated remarkable academic excellence. Our scholarships are awarded based on merit, recognising those who have achieved the highest grades. In addition, we have awarded bursaries to parents who need extra financial assistance, reaffirming our commitment to helping families in need,” said Kervyn Tobias, President of Jannou Credit Union.

We at Jannou Credit Union have always prioritised education as a cornerstone of community development. By investing in the academic success of our young members, we are not only supporting their personal growth but also contributing to the future prosperity of our nation.

As we celebrate the achievements of this year’s recipients, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students and their families. We also encourage them to continue striving for excellence in their academic pursuits. At Jannou Credit Union, we remain committed to walking alongside our members every step of the way because together, we truly can move mountains.
