The Government of Saint Lucia is committed to the development of the North-Eastern community zone, encompassing the area from Dauphin to Monchy, Gros Islet, by effectively utilizing the undeveloped lands in the region.
Tourism and Investment Minister Dr. Hilaire emphasised the long-standing ambition to build the north-east link road and revealed the high level of investor interest in the Grand Anse and Dauphin area.
Despite its unique characteristics, the government is determined to proceed with national plans for the construction of such a road.
“It’s essential for potential investors to recognize and respect the delicate nature of the area as a nature reserve, which houses turtle nesting and other environmental concerns,” the tourism minster stated, at a recent media briefing.
In 2016, the government took the initiative to commission Stantec Consulting Inc. to conduct interviews for a Social Impact Assessment in order to properly evaluate the potential impact of a new road in the northeast quadrant of the island.
