Four for Olympics

The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Inc. has announced the team selected to represent Saint Lucia at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Former national athlete and Chef de Mission, Helena Renee-Emmanuel, revealed the team at the SLOC Headquarters in La Clery last Saturday.

The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. The Saint Lucian team will participate in three sporting disciplines: Athletics, Sailing, and Swimming.

Julien Alfred, the World Indoor 60 meters champion and reigning Senior Sportswoman of the Year, will lead Saint Lucia’s charge at the games and will compete in the women’s 100 meters and 200 meters.

Michael Joseph will compete in the Men’s 400 meters.

Luc Chevrier, who is making his second Olympic appearance, will compete in Men’s Laser Radial as an Olympic Solidarity Scholar.

Jayhan Odlum-Smith, the lone swimmer, will compete in the Men’s 100-meter freestyle.

Other officials joining the team in Paris are Kevin McPhee (athletics), Frank Chevrier (sailing), Fred Vergnous (swimming), and Zhenya Allain (Physiotherapist).

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports extends its best wishes to Team Saint Lucia for success at the Games in Paris.
