Saint Lucia is set to host the 68th Annual CARPHA Health Research Conference, which will take place from April 25 to 27, at the Royalton.
Ministry of Health personnel state that Saint Lucia is privileged to collaborate with CARPHA in hosting the event, under the theme Violence in the Caribbean: “A Public Health Crisis.”
According to the organisers, this conference is the largest health research conference in the English-speaking Caribbean. It facilitates and promotes the communication and sharing of research and science among health-related professionals and policy makers.
It also facilitates the development of collaborations among researchers and health related stakeholders. The Ministry of Health works to strengthen the research culture locally and ensures evidenced based decision making.
As a result, a ministry official stated, “this provides an excellent opportunity to build capacity among our local health professionals. We urge all health professionals to register and participate in this relevant research conference.”
Prior to the main conference, persons are invited to attend the town hall meeting which will be held on Wednesday 24th April from 6-8pm at the Financial Center, Pointe Seraphine.
The theme for this meeting is “Violence and the Youth.”
The ministry encourages persons to “Come listen and share information, be part of the discussion on the strategies to reduce the impact of crime and violence on the youth. Let your voices be heard.”
