ISABEL Anius, a rising star in the realm of swimming, has made waves with her remarkable achievements. In 2019, she showcased her aquatic prowess at the RHAC regional swimming competition in St. Lucia, securing second place in her age group. Isabel’s exceptional talent garnered attention from Winners TV and The VOICE Newspaper, earning her acclaim as “A Star in the Making.”
Twice selected to represent St. Lucia in the OECS Swimming Championship and the Goodwill Games in 2019, Isabel’s dedication to her sport knows no bounds. Although unable to attend due to financial reasons, her commitment to excellence remained unwavering. Currently, she trains diligently three days a week with her swim club, continuously striving for improvement.
Isabel’s participation in the ASATT Invitational Swimming Competition held in Trinidad and Tobago in December 2023 marked a significant milestone in her swimming journey. Her relay team’s commendable performance secured bronze and silver medals, while Isabel’s individual achievement (top 8 placement in the 50-meter freestyle event) garnered well-deserved recognition. Her consistent improvement and dedication to her craft have earned her accolades within her swim club, including titles for Most Improved Times Junior, Best in Freestyle Junior, and Best in Fly Junior for the term September to December 2023.
Education and Athletic Pursuits
In June 2023, Isabel celebrated a pivotal moment in her academic journey, graduating from Laborie R.C. Girls Primary. At the tender age of 12, she embarked on a new chapter as a Form 1 student of the St. Joseph’s Convent Secondary School, where she continues to excel both academically and athletically.
Isabel’s athletic achievements extend beyond the poolside. At Laborie R.C. Girls Primary, she was awarded the prestigious Victrix Ludorum and later secured the same title for girls under 13 for District 7 in 2023. Her athletic prowess earned her the honour of representing St. Joseph’s Convent at Island Champs 2024. She was a finalist in the 80-meters and 150-meters. She also placed 3rd in the girls under 14 long jump.
Isabel recently took part in the Zara Grace Zizi Memorial Track Meet and placed 2nd in the 80 meters girls 11 to 12 event and contributed to her team placement (3rd position) in the girls 4 x 100 relay.
Multifaceted Talents and Community Engagement
Isabel is an integral member of the Tigers Volleyball Club, displaying dedication and skill under the mentorship of Ms. Emmy Vitalis. Additionally, Isabel’s passion for music shines through her mastery of the violin, nurtured by the guidance of Ms. Neti Vaandrager, a foreign volunteer, who dedicates her time to teaching children at no cost.
Isabel’s commitment to her community extends beyond sports and academics. She was an active participant in her past school’s cheerleading team, choir, and various group dances and modelling acts. Her involvement in extracurricular activities underscores her well-rounded personality and commitment to personal growth and community engagement.
