Banking on Jazz with $30,000

1st National Bank has thrown its support behind two community jazz events for 2024 with a $30,000 donation.

$20,000 for Soufriere Jazz and $10,000 for Monchy Mizik en Kweyol brings the bank’s community jazz injection to a grand total of thirty thousand. Up first on the community jazz roster is Soufriere Jazz set to feature international acts like Taurus Riley, Skinny Fabulous and Nailah Blackman and St. Lucia’s very own Teddyson John, Ricky T, Selwyna and more!

Two days later patrons are invited to head to Monchy Park to witness the iconic Saint Lucian band DYP performing a special tribute to Jacob Desvarieux of the band Kassav, Jean-Michel Galva and Koezyon of Martinque with a Kompa/Zouk styled performance, L.M. Stone, La Rose Group, Impulse Band, Avot Sevis and the Monchy Youth Band at Monch Mizik en Kweyol.

“We are excited to partner with both Monchy and Soufriere Jazz for their 2024 stagings,” said an elated Tishanna Jeffers, the Marketing and Communications Manager for 1st National Bank. She continued, “At 1st National Bank we seek to support ventures from within the performing, literary and visual arts which reflect and celebrate St. Lucian culture, as well as cultural and artistic fora which channel artistes’ creativity and inspiration and provide them with the resources to advance their vision. Culture is the soul of a nation and the people its heartbeat, we will continue to support and promote St. Lucian culture at 1st National Bank.”

Soufriere Jazz takes place at the Soufriere Mini Stadium on May 5th starting at 3pm. Monchy Mizik en Kweyol is a free event, and all St. Lucians are invited to partake in this experience on May 7th at Monchy Park from 7pm.
