2024/2025 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure to be Debated Today

THE 2024/2025 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure will be debated today and tomorrow by representatives of the Lower House of Assembly.

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre yesterday evening presented the Estimates in parliament after the Standing Finance Committee met in a closed morning session to review and approve the figures.

This year’s Estimates of One Billion, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, One Hundred and Ten Thousand, Eight Hundred Dollars ($1,894, 110,800) is just $37, 391,800 more than last year’s.
The Prime Minister, last evening, gave a detailed review of the government’s balance sheet for the financial year 2023-2024.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), the Estimates is fortified with targeted policies “designed to advance the government’s development agenda and effectively navigate the economic headwinds on the international market.”

“The Prime Minister has billed the 2024-2025 Budget as the Year of Infrastructure. The Year of Infrastructure heralds a wide range of government-backed investments in strategic capital projects and development programmes. These investments will modernize and revitalize public infrastructure and build capacity in the country’s human capital,” the statement noted.

The Appropriations Bill, which is the Policy Statement of the Government of Saint Lucia, will later be presented by The Prime Minister who is also the Finance Minister on April 23rd, 2024, followed by the debate on April 25th and April 26th, 2024.
