REGIONAL Communications Manager at Sandals Resorts Sunil Ramdeen spoke about adding some more “hype and excitement” to this year’s staging of the SLNCA/Sandals Under-19 Cricket Tournament, which bowls off today (Saturday), at venues across the island.
“We really want to invest in the tournament to make it fun and exciting …and part of doing that is to engage our partners, the media and others to hype up this tournament,” he declared.
Notably, an additional component to the tournament will be the introduction of ‘Team Managers’ to include the four respective Sandals properties as sponsors and mentors for the respective six participating teams.
The setup involves –
Sandals Grande to partner Gros Islet, and Babonneau; Sandals Halcyon – Mon Repos; Sandals Golf &Country Club- Central Castries; Sandals La Toc – Saint Lucia Sports Academy; Island Routes Tours and Adventure – Choiseul.
He said, with some teams having a specific resort in their corner, “part of that is to really drive the excitement of the tournament …and we really want to drive everybody (to come view) the tournament.
The Sandals official also disclosed there are plans in the making to “replicate the tournament” in the other sub-regional territories. He told the players that “because of your success, and what you’ve done to this tournament …you are really part of that as well.”
Meanwhile, the schedule of matches for the opening round of the tournament, are as follows:
– Gros Islet vs Choiseul at Piaye
– Central Castries vs SLSA at Gros Islet-
– Mon Repos vs Babonneau at Wen, Mon Repos
All matches begin today with a start time of 9:30am.
