Esther Antoine’s latest single is memorable in every way. For some, it might even be cathartic. Perhaps it’s the reggae beat; it pulls you in sweetly. Or maybe it’s the way she sings, with conviction… with ease.
Antoine, who released her single earlier this month, takes listeners on a journey with her splendid new tune. One that was inspired by pain, tragedy and heartbreak.
“I’ve gone through so much in life but I survived,” Antoine said in an interview on Wednesday.
“I needed to (record this single),” she said.
In it, she found a warrior’s anthem.
‘Follow You’ proved to be therapeutic for the singer, who, not only had health issues, but lost her youngest child when she least expected.
But there’s light at the end of the tunnel, Antoine said.
Antoine’s love for music has grown exponentially over the years.
“(Growing up) I sang a lot. Music came to me naturally and it was easy for me to put (words) on paper. I’m just happy to be here today,” Antoine told me on Wednesday, adding that she’s as resilient as ever.
Her dreams are that of an artist – large, daunting, thrilling. And though she is overseas, Antoine hopes to return to her home country eventually.
“I got the opportunity to come to the United States where my label African Voice Production is from. I’ve been here for years now. I want to come to Saint Lucia to perform (alongside) some of the big names and I also want (to appear on the international) stage. I really want to make my country proud… I know it’s coming, I can feel it in my bones,” she said.
In the meantime, fans can expect more music as well as a video for her latest single. And based on what we’ve seen, we expect this one to be nothing short of exciting.
Singer, author, mother and a star in her own way, Antoine’s light shines through it all.
