Toastmasters International is a renowned organization designed to improve one’s communication and leadership skills through its proven educational programs. The Open House at The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site will showcase the dynamic and supportive environment that Toastmasters offers, where individuals can enhance their public speaking, presentation, and leadership abilities.

This Open House will take place in a phased approach targeting past students in Phase 1 and current students in Phase 2. Faculty and staff are welcome to join any of the group sessions.

During the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:

1. Experience Toastmasters in Action: Witness live speeches and impromptu speaking exercises to get a firsthand look at the Toastmasters learning experience.

2. Learn About the Programmes: Discover the various educational programs and resources available through Toastmasters that cater to diverse skill levels and goals.

3. Meet Experienced Toastmasters: Engage with seasoned Toastmasters and Distinguished members who will share their personal experiences and success stories about the programme and the opportunities available to represent the club in various competitions.

4. Participate in Q&A Sessions: Ask questions and gain insights into how Toastmasters can benefit individuals both personally and professionally.

Past students attached to The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site who have completed a Senate-approve programme or Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) course and are looking to improve their soft skills are invited to witness the invaluable resources that Toastmasters has to offer.

“Alumni are already equipped with qualifications; Toastmasters is the next step in helping them grow from where they are now to where they want to be,” said Distinguished Toastmaster and former President of the Saint Lucia Public Service Toastmasters Club, Shavonne Bryan. DTM Bryan is the first male on the island to reach the status of Distinguished Toastmaster. Members of the current executive team expressed that they are thrilled to bring Toastmasters to The UWI and provide an opportunity for alumni to discover the transformative influence of effective communication and leadership skills. Founding member and current Vice President Education, DTM Sonia Monrose, believes that the institution has sufficient numbers to sustain a club that belongs to it.
