Rotary Club Visits Mental Wellness Center

.

“CREATE Hope in the World” is the theme for the Rotary year 2023 to 2024 and with this in mind Rotarians from the Rotary Club of St Lucia visited the Mental Wellness Center to donate clothing and supplies to the patients of the Hospital. The supplies included a wide range of toiletries, sanitary products and delicates.

This donation by the Club aligns precisely with its mandate which incorporate a focus on mental wellness.

Speaking at the visit, Rotary President Everton Sealy said “As we commence the month of December, a month associated with good cheer and giving, we the Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia are here to donate toiletries and clothing to the patients of the wellness center. It is quite fitting that we make such donation to this institution since it fits precisely with our annual Rotary theme “Create Hope in the world” with a focus on mental wellness.

With our visit here today, it is our intention to meet three objectives.

Firstly, we make this donation with the hope that it would go some way making the patients more comfortable and their stay more pleasant.

Secondly, we hope to draw attention to and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness. We the Rotary Club of St Lucia advocate that mental illness is a disease just like any other and persons who suffer from this illness should be treated with dignity and respect.

Thirdly we hope to bring hope to the patients and tell them that all is not lost. There are persons out here who care and we the Rotary Club of St Lucia care.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management and staff of the Center for the dedication and patience. We know that it must be challenging caring for those who are mentally unwell. To you we say thank you. ”

The team at the wellness center extended their heartfelt appreciation for the generous donation and conveyed their deep gratitude to the members of the Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club of Saint Lucia’s visit to the Mental Wellness Center was a meaningful gesture of support, strengthening the bonds of community and fostering a brighter future for mental health in our region.
