Nearly 30 swim coaches from Saint Lucia and the wider OECS are taking part in a World Aquatics Coaches Certification Course – Assistant Coach Level (L1) at the Rodney Heights Aquatics Center, Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.
The course, which runs from November 13 to 17, is being facilitated by World Athletics expert David Farmer from Barbados, along with Development Officer of the Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation, Yasmin Tyson.
According to a spokesperson for the St Lucia Aquatics Federation [ SLAF], Farmer’s involvement in swimming and sport has been quite extensive in the region. From 2008 to the present, he has been serving as the Director of the National Olympic Academy of Barbados which is responsible for the educational programming for athletes, coaches and all sectors of the sport community.
He is also the Regional Program Coordinator of the Caribbean Coaching Certification Program, CCCP.
In 2003-2008, he was the Principal of Westmorland School, Grenada and in 1990-2002, the Manager of the Barbados Aquatic Centre and the Technical Director of Swimming for the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association.
Farmer previously facilitated a certification course in Saint Lucia in 2018.
