WITH heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we bid farewell to a longstanding member in the world of broadcasting, 52-year-old Denish Monlouis, who passed away from a stroke on the morning of Thursday, November 2, 2023.
His remarkable 30-plus year career left an indelible mark on the television industry, and his contributions as a creative force and master cameraman will forever be remembered.
Denish Monlouis’ passion for the art of television production was evident in every frame he captured, in every programme he brought to life, and in every moment he spent behind the camera. As one of the best cameramen and producers in the business, he had an innate ability to turn ordinary scenes into extraordinary visual narratives.
His journey in the world of television began, as a young aspiring talent, at D.B.S. and over the decades at G.I.S., Visual Domain, Choice TV, Hot 7 TV and finally Winners TV. He honed his skills and became a creative font of inspiration for those who worked with him. His creative talent and his innovative spirit pushed the boundaries of what was standard in the field of television production. At Winners TV, where he was the production lead, he was instrumental in the delivery of a number of groundbreaking programmes.
But beyond his professional accomplishments, Denish Monlouis was an avid footballer who played in the youth ranks for Black Mallet Football club and was a member of the Veterans playing Caricom Masters Football Team. He was also a well-known, Manchester United fan, forever complaining every time his team lost a match.
In the wake of his passing, St. Lucia’s media fraternity has lost one of its best, and many have lost a friend and colleague. However, his legacy lives on through the countless hours of captivating television programmes he created, the stories he told, and the lives he touched. Denish Monlouis leaves behind his wife, Kim Monlouis, his daughter, Denisha, one grandson, and numerous relatives in St. Lucia and abroad. May he rest in peace.
