The Sandals Foundation recently donated a much-needed public address (PA) system to the Balata Primary School, which included a microphone stand, portable Bluetooth speaker, cables, dynamic microphone, professional speaker, and adjustable speaker stand. This PA system will be employed in their everyday academic activities and will help to improve overall school operations.
Principal Mr. Peter Daniel expressed gratitude on behalf of the staff and students, and lauded the foundation for its ongoing support of the school’s initiatives and programmes.
“This is very timely for us, coming on the heels of the reopening of school for this academic year. For some months now, we have not been able to connect with our children in the way that we wish and now, with our PA system, we can do this again. Thanks to the Sandals Foundation, this gift is so timely.”
Judy Deterville, Public Relations Manager at Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa & Beach Resort explained the decision behind supporting the school with the new audio equipment.
“The Sandals Foundation continues to build on a long-standing relationship with the Balata Primary School which goes back some 20 years. Once we learned that the school needed the PA System and that they were unable to afford it, we turned to the Sandals Foundation for assistance, which they happily facilitated,” Deterville said.
Deterville continued, “Public address systems (PA systems) are widely used for making general announcements, hosting events, and other important edutainment initiatives. The principal and school administrators will be able to make live broadcasts to the school’s population, play pre-recorded music or educational audio clippings to support the teaching and learning process for a large group of students, and communicate an emergency through the PA system.”
Throughout the academic year, some 300 students ages 6 to 12 are set to benefit from the use of the PA system.
Sandals Foundation and the Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia have been supporters of education and community development throughout the island, donating to a number of schools and youth sports programmes.
