Police Operation Nets Firearms and Ammunition

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force conducted a joint Operation along the Micoud and Mon Repos Highways. The operation included personnel from various Police Stations and Tactical Units.

Traffic checks formed a major part of the operation, which resulted in 249 vehicles being checked. Nineteen of these vehicles were searched. A total of ten tickets were issued: Four tickets were issued for Failing to Produce Driver’s Licences, another four tickets were issued for Failing to Display Stickers, while one ticket was issued for Riding without Headgear and another for an Unroadworthy Vehicle.

Out of two of the 19 motor vehicle which were searched police found a 9mm pistol with two magazines and 46 rounds of ammunition along with one 9mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition. The firearms and ammunition were seized, and three persons were arrested in reference to these matters. Charges are expected to be preferred.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force thanked all who were involved in the success of the operation, noting that Saint Lucia belongs to the people and that the Police Force is here to serve the people to make “our island home a safer place for all.”
