ACTION in the Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. Divisional Club championship resumed, last Saturday.
In Div. 2 action at the Desruisseaux Playing Field, New Generation triumphed with a 4 – 1 victory over Knights FC. Goal scorers for the victors were Lee Edward with a hat trick from goals in the 5th, 23rd and 71st minutes, and another from Phillip Ishmael in the 2nd minute.
Anthony Soulage scored in the 20th min for Knights FC.
At the same venue, El Ninos defeated Uptown Rebels 2 – 0, with goals from Donavon Jn. Baptiste and Lester Mitchel in the 21st and 36th minutes respectively.
Two matches were also played at the Soufriere Mini Stadium; Bays FC edged past Victory Eagles 2-1. Bays goal scorers were Chayron Dupres in the 69th and Steven Octave in the 89th minutes, while Devan O’ Brien scored for V Eagles in the 24th minute.
Black Panthers beat DCYO 1 – 0 with a goal from Kenny Nicholas in the 42nd minute.
Meanwhile, the Saint Lucia Soccer Exchange Development Programme of New York, in collaboration with the Brooklyn United F.C. and the SLFA Inc. has once again joined forces in the quest towards youth football development and empowerment.
This year, several youth players between the ages of 11 and 17 will embark on a new programme facilitated by Vincent Mark, President of the St. Lucia Soccer Exchange Dev. Programme and youth co-ordination of the Brooklyn United F.C. with support from the SLFA’s Michael “Midget” Pierre.
According to a spokesperson, full soccer gear will be donated to the youths selected to participate in the programme on August, 13. The presentation will take place at Whispers Restaurant in Soufriere from 11: am.
The selected participants representing the respective districts, are as follows; Anse La Raye, Babonneau, Canaries, Choiseul, Dennery, Soufriere and Vieux Fort.
This selection was done in collaboration with key personnel from the respective communities.
