The National Workers Union (NWU) will today host a one-day industrial forum at the John Burke King Industrial Academy at Unity House in Sans Souci, Castries.
Forty trade union activists and Shop Stewards within the NWU branches are expected to participate in the forum.
“This educational thrust, sponsored by the NWU is geared to bring trade union education to its rank and file membership. Participants will be exposed to the Importance of Unionization, Industrial Grievance Handling, Provisions within an industrial collective agreement as well as the significance of total mobilization,” noted the trade union in a release.
Facilitators will include Veteran Trade Unionist Clement Prospere, President General Tyrone G. Maynard, Secretary General Johann Harewood, Junior Industrial Relations Specialist Embert Eugene, and HR Advisor to WASCO Shop Stewards Gregory Inglis. The day’s activity will commence promptly at 9:00 a.m.
NWU’s Education Coordinator Norma Maynard disclosed that at the conclusion of the event six Shop Stewards will be selected to participate in further trade union training at the regional level.
