YOUTH soccer action will be in the spotlight, today (Saturday), at the Gros Islet playing field, with the stage set for the finals and third place playoffs in the Carasco and Son Under-13 Invitational Tournament- organized by the Gros Islet Football League [GIFL].
The action begins at 9.30a.m., with the third place playoffs between Northern United and Nyah FC; to be followed by the finals featuring Monchy FC vs. GMC United.
The junior league competition has been buzzing with some sizzling action from the youngsters, and the top contenders are now set to make a bid for the high stakes.
On July 22 four of the best teams in this edition of the inaugural GFL / Monchy FC Carasco U 13 Boys football tournament met in the Knockout stages.
Defending 2022 U-12 Champions, GMC United took on Northern United. Though Northern U took an early lead, to go -1up, GMC United hit back strongly to overcome their opponents by a 5-1 victory.
Northern’s goal scorer was Kaylan Lewis; while Amari’e Plummer and Landen Felicien scored braces, and captain Shaquil Thomas got another for GMC.
Monchy United FC took a commanding 3-nil advantage into the break, to outplay Nyah Peppers 4-0.
Credit to Nyah’s goal keeper for effecting some excellent saves. Scoring for Monchy were Shiloh John with a brace, while Khairi Elibox and Khieron Hippolyte netted one each.
Organizers are appealing to the sporting public to turn out to support the youngsters and witness some “mouth-watering action” at the Gros Islet playing field.
