PERCHED next to Sandals, La Toc with a stunning view to accompany it, Yellow Sands Luxury Villas announced itself to the world with a soft opening ceremony on Wednesday, wowing visitors with its simple elegance and striking aesthetics.
Yellow Sands promises a rich experience to visitors and locals alike, as well as high-end accommodation. The villa will be opened for business within a month’s time, however.
According to the owner, Alexander St. Clair (St. Clair is also Saint Lucian), the idea for Yellow Sands was birthed after he’d travelled to various parts of the world.
“I’ve been living in the U.S. for the last 36 years; (I’ve) done quite a bit of travelling,” St. Clair told THE VOICE in an interview, adding that when he travelled, he would compare the places he visited to Saint Lucia often, concluding that “we’ve got better.”
However, he said, “when I came back home accommodation was always a challenge and I felt like there’s something that could be done to enhance it and at that point I started looking to see what can I do to make a contribution.”
St. Clair launched the first phase of his project on Wednesday.
“We have three villas available; two one bedrooms, one two bedroom, and we also have an overflow room. We have five bedrooms for now and could sleep 12 comfortably. I have another building like this one with three levels which is going to (have) two bedrooms on each level and then I have another unit right next to this one which is going to be a four-bedroom unit for a larger family,” St. Clair said.
Whilst Yellow Sands offers high end accommodation (there is an ocean coloured swimming pool as well), St. Clair said it is an affordable experience.
And though building the villa cost more than he initially anticipated, St. Clair said it’s a worthwhile investment.
“The last five years was not easy but today I can breathe… (the) journey started out in 2018… all of this was not in vain,” he concluded, adding “I think Yellow Sands is going to offer you something (you can) enjoy.”
President of the Saint Lucia Industrial and Small Business Association (SLISBA) Flavia Cherry said St. Clair has been a member of SLISBA for “just under ten years and when he spoke about that project we thought it was so ambitious.”
“We were really so excited for the possibility and here we are today. It shows that as Saint Lucians if we are determined and if we really want to do something we can make it happen. Alexander is the type of person who’s very determined very hard working, and he’s also the type of person who gives back a lot,” she said.
“I remember him saying to me one of the best things that came out of being a member of SLISBA (was participating) in various trade missions because every time he went to different countries, the first thing he did was see what the hotels were like, because he always wanted to contribute to the hospitality sector in a way like this. This amazing project is… only in its first phase (and) we cannot wait to see the other two phases,” Cherry added.
At three storeys high, Yellow Sands offers a slice of paradise and perhaps a little more. Nestled in the hills of La Toc, Yellow Sands promises a wonderful stay to all.
